This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

To really support our students with disabilities in counseling, we need to use tools that make learning about emotions and self-regulation both fun and effective. For example, the "Little Spots of Emotions" book is a fantastic resource. It’s full of colorful characters and simple stories that help kids understand their feelings in a way that's easy to grasp. This book makes talking about emotions less intimidating and more relatable, which is great for students who might struggle to express how they’re feeling.

Different counseling curriculums designed for diverse needs are also super important.

These curriculums include activities and strategies that cater to various learning styles and challenges. They help make sure that every student can engage in a way that works best for them, whether that’s through interactive games, hands-on activities, or visual aids. Therapy putty and brick blocks is another awesome tool to consider. It’s like a stress ball but more fun, giving students a tactile way to manage stress and stay focused. It’s perfect for kids who need something to do with their hands while they’re working through their feelings or just need a little break.

That’s why I need this project funded. With the right resources, we can create a counseling environment where every student feels supported and understood. By using these engaging tools, we make learning about emotions and coping skills more enjoyable and effective. Our students are amazing—they bring unique strengths and perspectives to the classroom. Funding this project will help us celebrate their individuality and give them the tools they need to shine.
