My Learning Support classrooms are made up of students K-5 in two different schools. One of these schools is a Title I school where at least one-third of students come from low-income households. Since I am at two schools with two classrooms, I require double the resources to best serve all of my students with disabilities.
We are hoping to get noise-canceling headphones to add to our calm down area as well as new books to focus on calming down, breathing, and our emotions.
Students are not able to learn if they are upset. These new resources will help students be able to calm down and return to learning.
Our calm down area has emojis students can look at to help express how they are feeling. We have some books available for students to look at but are looking to widen our collection to focus on calming down and breathing. We currently do not have any noise-canceling headphones which create challenges for students who may be sensitive to loud noises.
