This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is comprised of our city’s most talented young people, dedicated teachers and staff. We take great pride in the rigor of our curriculum, the quality of our instruction, and the performance of our students. Our students are serious scholars who constantly strive for success. Their determination ensures that they are the up-and-coming leaders of tomorrow.

To our students failure is not an option; it is just another obstacle waiting to be overcome.

They believe with hard work and perseverance anything is achievable. They are excited to be in school and look forward to each day's encounters.

My students enjoy being challenged and love challenging their teachers. They not only question everything, they seek out and find the answers.

Our students, for lack of a better word, are exceptional. While our students are serious scholars they are very involved in all aspects of school. They belong to various clubs in the school, are involved in athletics, and tap into the creative minds through the arts. They are on their way to becoming well rounded and productive members of society.

My Project

Escape the Room is the latest craze in fun. A series of puzzles and tasks a group must complete to win the challenge. Now transfer that experience to an educational setting. Where students have to complete puzzles and tasks based on an educational experiences. Instead of a break out room, we have a breakout box. The students use clues they find to unlock the multiple locks on the box and open it. This activity will allow students to practice collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication and help them take charge of their learning. They will also use content area skills to reinforce their learning. The BreakOut kits will be used to assess student learning, reinforce a variety of skills, and basically allow students to enjoy learning.

The best part about this proposal is that once you purchase the materials for a kit, there are hundreds of scenarios and clues available so the game can be replayed over and over.

Using Breakout EDU games, helps bring students closer together allowing them to continue the learning process, but also rewarding them with a fun experience after working so hard.

These activities are also beneficial to use with staff throughout the school year to act as ice breakers and as reinforces of their continuing need to learn.
