This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I serve Gifted and Talented students in a highly diverse, low-income district. The students come from many different backgrounds and a majority of our students speak a second language. Our students come from supportive families who want the best for their kids but often do not have the resources they need to assist them. These students are focused and excited to learn.

Gifted students are tomorrow's leaders, inventors, problem-solvers and creators!

Providing them with opportunities to think critically and collaborate is essential for their success while providing them more opportunities to be more college and career ready!

My Project

The requested access and journals will help in-school and virtual learners navigate through critical thinking challenges and teach them how to create their own content area Breakout Game in the areas of STEM, Art, and Economics. Breakout EDU games help teachers to facilitate incredible learning experiences that transcend and support state standards while highly engaging students in the learning process. Not only do I teach students in the school building, but I also teach all middle school gifted learners in the district. Often, these learners are isolated from team-building and collaboration opportunities. The addition of these critical thinking projects will teach and reinforce school core and elective content standards while giving them opportunities to work together in small groups to "break out" and design their own games. Content games they design will then be shared with the classroom teachers so that all in building and virtual students will have the opportunity to learn in such a creative, challenging and fun way!
