My students need a Breakout EDU Kit & Platform Access to integrate STEM and critical thinking.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Pitts's classroom raised $215

My Students
My students are an energetic group of sixth graders, attending an intermediate school in Connecticut. They come from all areas of town and are mostly from an urban setting. This year, our entire district receives free lunch. Unfortunately, funding is extremely limited and gaining access to resources can be challenging. I want my classroom to be a place where my students can comfortably learn, in a safe and exciting environment, but I also want to give them every opportunity possible to help them succeed.
My Project
I'm the kind of teacher that's always trying something new. This year I'd like to increase student engagement and infuse STEM into more lessons with a Breakout EDU Kit & Platform access. Students will work collaboratively to think critically and problem solve.
Students must solve the puzzles in order to open the Breakout EDU boxes that are locked with different types of locks and combinations.
They also use invisible ink and UV flashlights to engage students in solving the locked box. This will infuse ELA, social studies, and technology with critical thinking skills and team work.
This project provides online access to digital games that I can assign to students based on the subject topic, so students can play review and practice games on our Chromebooks. For example, students can solve a hieroglyphic coded message, applying what they have learned in Ancient Civilizations. Not only that, but students can demonstrate their learning by creating their own games! Here's to adding more STEM fun into our daily learning!
