Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Being a Title I school, almost all of my students are second language learners. Their drive to learn and achieve is amazing.
Learning collaboratively in new ways is what inspires these students to reach for the stars.
My students are the face of the United States of America. Some were born in this country to English speaking parents. Some were born in the United States to Spanish or Vietnamese speaking parents. Others were born in another country and immigrated to the United States. One thing that all of my students have in common is their zest for learning. They are so wonderful in that they don't see the differences between each other.
My Project
I have a wonderful group of new third graders. They love working in groups and solving problems. A Breakout EDU box will be met with gleeful excitement. These great kids work well at solving simple to complex problems. I can hardly wait to set up a "Breakout" for them.
They have a great way of finding clues and with a Breakout box, there will be plenty of opportunities to use all of that collaborative effort.
At the end of our first week of school, I gave them a simple STEAM challenge and they loved it. A Breakout lesson will definitely be something that many students will be asking for again and again.
