This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We need books! Our classroom library is very sparse, and I don't have enough books to fill my students' needs. As a new teacher to this grade level, I found third grade books in the hands of kinder students. Research proves that students learn best with books on their level. Sadly I only inherited 55 books.

My students are eager to learn and full of enthusiasm.

They look forward to reading and building stamina everyday. They are curious and silly. They don't have much experience with books, but listen and answer questions with excitement. I know reading is important to their success, and getting them to fall in love with books and reading is my number one goal.

My Project

I've tried to keep my request simple to attract more donors, but I can't stress how great the need is. I know that exposure to non-fiction texts is important to understanding and developing critical thinking skills. I also know getting the right books into students' hands is so important. These materials will allow me to at least have a starter library in which I can build on. Please help us become sizzling readers.

Anytime you place a book in a student's hand you are making a difference.

My students rarely have visited the library. The books we do have date as far back as 1980. Reading impacts everything a student does. This year is going to be especially difficult if I can't get materials as necessary as books into my classroom. These books will remain with this school and touch future students as well. Thank you for helping us.
