This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In September, I will open my classroom to a diverse group of high school students and many of them will be entering high school for the first time. Most of them will enter my classroom with mixed emotions about their first day of high school. Many of them will be travelling out of their neighborhood's for the first time, entering a school new building and some of them will be extremely nervous. In order to make this transition easy, I want my classroom to have all the necessary items that they will need to have a successful school year. No student should be without the necessary ingredients for success.
My Project
My school building opened in 1975 and one major issue with the design of the school building is that the classrooms have no windows. Although, the design of the school building may have been avant-garde for the time period in which it was built, it is not conducive for the students that attend the school currently. Unfortunately the design of the building can't be changed. As a teacher working in this building I feel that it is important to ensure that the classroom is sanitized daily with disinfecting wipes and that the air is clean with the support of an air purifier in the classroom.
