My Students

As a student, did you ever wonder how the things you were learning applied to real life? By composting, my students can learn about the science of decomposition in an authentic way while helping the environment.

My fourth graders are enthusiastic, project-based learners.

They come from different backgrounds and different cities in our area to attend our school. We learn by building, exploring, and creating. We believe that textbooks and worksheets are not the best way to learn. Hands-on projects keep us engaged and help us to understand the concepts we are learning. We create videos, build models, and perform plays to share what we learn.

My Project

It is so important that students interact with science concepts in meaningful and engaging ways. That is why I am requesting two composting kits (one is see-through!) and worms. The composting supplies will help my students to see first-hand how decomposers (like worms) recycle matter. These supplies will also make my students more aware of the waste they produce and empower them to do some recycling. As our high school across the road is starting an agricultural program, we can also donate our compost to be used there.

By providing my students with the composting kits, you will be giving them the opportunity to learn about science in a hands on way.

It will also give them the opportunity to do something good for the environment.
