Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with extraordinary students in Brooklyn who face challenges that most children should never have to carry. Many of them live in high-need communities where resources are scarce and opportunities are limited. On top of these barriers, my students are also navigating learning disabilities, autism, or ADHD. They are bright, funny, and resilient, yet without the right support at the right time, their potential can go unseen—and the chance to learn can slip away.

What I love most about my students is their determination.

Even when the odds are stacked against them, they show up with humor, curiosity, and a desire to be understood. But for children with special needs, time is critical. Early intervention matters. If we miss the opportunity to assess and address their challenges now, the window to build essential skills narrows and they risk falling further behind.

That’s why this project matters so deeply. An iPad is not just a piece of technology—it’s a lifeline. With it, I can conduct evaluations that are engaging, accurate, and individualized. I can see each child’s true strengths, identify the areas where they need urgent support, and create recommendations rooted in the most current research. These evaluations open the door to specialized services and targeted strategies that can transform a child’s path in school and beyond.

For my students, this iPad represents access and opportunity. It ensures they are not overlooked or underestimated. It gives them a voice, a fair chance, and the possibility of a brighter future. Without this tool, too many of these incredible children risk missing out on the chance to learn at the level they deserve. With it, we can change the trajectory of their lives.
