This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Kindergarten students come to school hungry for more than knowledge. Many times they are hungry because they missed the bus so they missed breakfast or because they have been hungry since the night before. Learning on an empty stomach does not work and we need your help.
My students arrive eager to learn every day.
They are an energetic group of students who live and learn by our class motto: Do your best. My class is one of four kindergarten classrooms in a Title I school with close to 600 students. It has often been said that our school is a hidden treasure and for that reason it can be difficult to locate. Because we are tucked into a neighborhood we do not receive as much community support to fund classroom needs as many prominent schools. Many of our teachers seek funding for materials or purchase items independently.
My Project
Your donation will help purchase needed breakfast items like applesauce and fruit bars and after-school snacks like granola bars and pretzels. Children learn better with a full stomach rather than an empty stomach. They need healthy foods to promote better learning.
Your donation will give my students what they need before they can begin to learn: good, nutritious and shelf-stable food.
With this, they will be able to take some food home after school and for the weekends. Please consider donating to my project and support my students' basic needs.
