This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful kids that are eager to be challenged and inspired. They are a very diverse population in a low income area. We have a supportive school community due to the fact we are a Charter school. However, resources are limited as they are at most public schools. To keep these busy minds challenged and motivated, my students will need classroom materials to help them succeed in 2nd grade. I want to grow lifelong learners, Readers and leaders.

My Project

Our students need healthy breakfast and snack options to have in our classroom. Our 2nd Grade students are often still hungry even after the free breakfast/lunch the school provides. I would like to help cover the costs of the many different breakfast and snack options we purchase as educators to supplement the breakfast provided by the school or parents. Many students come in to our classrooms and they haven't eaten breakfast. This effects their study habits, behavior and even grades. A full student is a healthy student. A healthy student is a healthy learner. They will be far more successful when they are fed and can focus on learning rather than hunger. I am hoping this will help to fill in any gaps my students may have to help them to continue to succeed along they path they deserve to be on.

I would like to provide a healthy snack pantry for 3 teachers( 54 students) with granola bars, crackers, and other snack options for our Elementary 2nd Graders.

So often our students continue to complain about still being hungry even after the free breakfast or lunch the school district provides. I am hoping to provide them with a healthy option to allow their brains to focus where they need to. Our students deserve to have the best education they can receive and doing so involves not concentrating on hunger pains.

This project will allow our 54 Second Grade students the ability to free up the hunger burden that so many children face today. This will give our amazing 2nd graders every opportunity they deserve to have. Thank you so much!
