Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. The main challenge is language. They are all native Spanish speakers. Despite these challenges my students are very enthusiastic about learning a second language. I would like to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences through technology.

I teach English as a second language to the most amazing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders, who have a great desire to learn.

My students are all from various countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. They have come to the USA for a better life and I would like to help them achieve the best education possible.

Technology is a big factor in helping my students learn English. They may never have used a computer before coming to me for ESL but that doesn't stop them from being fearless when it comes to technology. As a former Technology Teacher, I am well aware of the power of Technology to facilitate the learning styles of my students.

My Project

My ESL students are in need of technology. We need Chromebooks. My 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders will be using Chromebooks to listen, write, read, and speak in English. The students' degree of English ranges from Non-English to Advanced Proficiency in English. They can practice these skills in real-time no matter what level of proficiency they're at.

Help me give my students 4 Chromebooks which will allow them to increase their ESL skills through reading, writing, listening, and speaking by using the Google Education Suite.

The children will be paired off in order to use the 4 Chromebooks that I'm asking to be donated to us.

Through the use of Chromebooks, the students will be able to break the language barrier and feel successful!
