This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have been learning how to code in the classroom since the beginning of the year. The students are progressing nicely. We want to create an extension of this learning by using the robots and drones we have. If we could get some iPads for the classroom, more students would be able use the tools we already have. We currently have only one iPad for the classroom. This limits how many students get to use our Dash and Dot Robots, our Parrot Drones, and our Sphero Sprk. This would allow more students to extend their coding experience beyond computers.

These kids are hard workers!

They are students looking for the opportunity to do something amazing. With limited funding they don't get the same opportunities other students do. The drive to learn in these kids is strong! They want to prove themselves day in and day out! We are in a low socioeconomic area where opportunity doesn't show its face. These students strive to show that one should not wait for opportunity, but should create it and seize it!

My Project

We have other resources to help extend out coding experiences in class. We have Dash and Dot robots, which we can code to make music. We have Parrot Drones, which students can code to fly through student-made obstacles. We also have Sphero robots, which code through mathematics. The catch is that we only have one iPad. This prevents many students from getting to use these resources.

These iPads would help us BREAK the code funk that we are in!

More students will be able to use these robots and drones. The robots and drones won't have to sit on the shelf and collect dust. My classroom will soon be bustling with "OOOHS" and "AHHHHS" and the collaboration and problem solving will be through the roof!
