My Students

I am a teacher of gifted and talented and high-ability learners at a school comprised of students from various economic, social, and cultural backgrounds. These students have a thirst for knowledge and a desire to learn all they can about the world around them.

The school I work in serves kindergarten through fifth grade; teachers and families alike hold a high-value on the education they receive at my school, which translates into the desire to increase the academic experiences of the students in order to get them college and career ready for the future.

Regardless of their academic ability, I want to provide all the students I get to work with each day an enriching, flexible learning experience.

My Project

The Breakout EDU kits provide students of all ages and academic abilities to engage their bodies with movement while also engaging their brains with critical thinking.

An essential part of using the Breakout EDU kits is for students to work together collaboratively to solve puzzles, riddles, and or mysteries by moving through a series of activities to gain access the combinations, keys to locks, secret messages in order to win what is inside the box.

This activity is very similar to what people experience in an Escape Room style setting.

The fantastic part about these kits are that they can be used with any grade level, and can incorporate a rigorous, standards-aligned activity year after year. Children can engage in the learning process while being competitive, collaborative, and in motion.
