My Project
If my project is fully funded, I will be able to put together calming break boxes for each teacher at my school to keep in their classroom. If students are not emotionally regulated they will struggle to participate in classroom activities. This will benefit student's social emotional learning and well being. Each bin will include fidgets and calming tools that will help regulate student's nervous system. The bins will provide students with appropriate ways to take a break. It will also provide consistency across classrooms and grade levels. Students can learn the initial skills of appropriate calming strategies and then build upon that skill. This includes appropriate ways to ask for a break and what specific calming tools work for them. This tool will be helpful to all students but specifically our students with disabilities who struggle with emotional regulation.
