My students range in age from 5 to 10, and they are in grades K-5. They come from various socioeconomic backgrounds. We have recently had lots of cuts due to a levy failure and do not have the funds to get classroom music instruments.
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions!
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging activities. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They are such an inspiration.
My Project
A majority of the students who sign up for band at my school are from low income households. I have students who want to join band who can’t afford instruments and or supplies to keep them clean and working properly.
I will be able to let two more students join band with a new trumpet and trombone.
The cleaning supplies and maintenance supplies will be for students who don’t have them. Trumpets are very difficult to use if the valves are dry and stuck, and the valve oil will help with this. The slides on the trombones will keep working.
Half of students from low‑income households
