In light of recent tragic events, my students bring about hope for a better future. While they hail from all over the globe, speak a multitude of different languages, and come from a wide array of economic situations, they work together in unity. Through playing in a band together, they learn the values of teamwork, tolerance, understanding, and loyalty. We see our wonderful diversity as an asset and a strength. I can only hope that they can carry this notion of setting aside differences to achieve unity in the future.
My students are energetic, determined, and love to share their musical gifts with the school and the local community.
They are truly a joy to behold.
My Project
The euphonium is a popular instrument in my program. Many of my students are reliant on public transportation to come to school. They plastic lightweight euphonium will allow more students to take an instrument home to practice. The French horn case will replace a badly broken one. The brass bell mallets will be used for repertoire where the mallet percussion is a prevalent voice.
While the media has publicized several recent negative events at our school, the music program allows our students to shine in a positive way!
Our band program serves nearly 300 students, all of whom participate in concerts. Our entire 8th-grade band participates in state adjudication festivals and many students choose to take part in All County, Borough Wide, and several other community-based music programs. Please support my students, as their musicianship and enthusiasm are truly a light in our community.
