My Project
This is the first year that Armstrong School District has had a legitimate Jazz Program. After years of fighting for the program, administration has decided that it is a great program for our students. It will include jazz bands at the elementary, junior high, and high school! That being said, there are still a lot of instruments that are needed to help the program thrive.
Jazz music was created in America, and is an essential part of our culture.
Unfortunately, it is being forgotten in our current “popular music” trend. Playing jazz music engages more parts of the brain than most other cognitive activities. Students studying jazz music learn more about culture, history, art, creativity, and humanity than most other students.
This keyboard will enable more students to be a part of a program that may not be able to without it. Piano is not a typical instrument that is taught in public schools. Having this keyboard will allow more students to be involved in a program that teaches students the essential skills of being a successful citizen in an ever-changing, global society.
