Brainteasers and Logic Games, Who Has the Fastest Times?

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How fun would it be to build logic and problem solving skills via interactive games and puzzles? Competition will only add to students' enthusiasm and participation.

I teach in an inner-city, urban public school where over 50% of the students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches, the basic measurement of poverty.

My students come to the classroom burdened with problems from home, and saddled with the history of a spotty educational experience thus far. I am often confronted with the question of how to teach basic logic and problem solving skills, when I am supposed to deliver a rigorous, college-prep curriculum. My students yearn for attention and an engaging learning experience, and I believe that I've found a way to deliver. I just need your help in getting the necessary materials into their hands.

My Project

I would like to get a class set of various logic puzzles and games. By allowing my students to compete with each other, they will become enthusiastically invested in the challenge and competition of the games themselves. It will be a lucky coincidence that they will be learning logic, spacial reasoning, and problem solving skills, as well as teamwork through these learning materials. I will keep a running score of fastest times to keep up the competition, and thanks to other donors, will be able to provide certificates of accomplishment to those with the best times.

Your kind contribution to this project will allow my students to develop critical thinking skills in a fun, competitive manner.

Since these are non-consumable items, they will continue to provide an engaging, challenging learning experience for years to come.
