This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Children know shockingly little about technology and engineering, yet they are born engineers. Hâ€Â"they are fascinated with designing their own creations, with taking things apart, and with figuring out how things work. We've got to help them regain their inner engineers.

My students are second language learners from high poverty, socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Yet, despite their hardships, they are rocking and rolling and ready to learn everyday at school. They come to school everyday with cooperative, 'can-do' attitudes. They work hard, and take ownership for their actions. They are amazing citizens and conduct themselves in way that would make any one proud. They are survivors with strong hearts and the will to do anything. I would like to give them every opportunity humanly possible to help them overcome their personal hardships.

My Project

Within our school, there is an economic gap between the access to technology our students have, and the demand for technological knowledge and skills needed to be successful in typical 21st century communities and workplaces. It is important for students to become technologically literate in order to meet the demanding job market that will face them after high school graduation. Students must be able to communicate and collaborate electronically, as well as become effective problem solvers and analytical thinkers. In order for students to gain the skills they need, educators across the world will need to integrate technology into their curriculum, starting in kindergarten. My students do not know how to use an iPad. This project would allow them to use iPad apps such as Orbit Architecture , AutoCad360, Video Science and so many more.

I want to level the technological playing field for my students, I want them to have a competitive edge.

I want them to have a fighting chance at becoming productive, contributing members of society. Technology will give them that edge.
