Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fifth graders live in a primarily working class and immigrant neighborhood. Some of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, some are gifted, and they all love to learn. Our students are artists, athletes, writers, scientists, mathematicians, and dreamers. We empower students through project-based learning as we integrate the arts in all curricular areas, including the humanities, history, literature, and science.

Our motto is, "The world is changing, and change starts with me." Each year we share our learning with the school community and the surrounding neighborhood as we host student-made film festivals and project museums.

My Project

Do you know how the digestive system works? Is there life on Mars? What was the Harlem Renaissance? Who was Michelangelo? Every day, my students ask countless questions about the world. The BrainPOP online learning website can help us answer some of those questions. BrainPOP gives students access to a host of educational videos, games, assignments, and quizzes. The videos are designed just for kids, emphasizing fundamental concepts and vocabulary. They're fun to watch, too. We are asking for a one-year subscription to the BrainPOP website.

With a BrainPOP account, my students will have the answers to their questions at their fingertips.

These entertaining and informative videos will enhance their learning in any topic we cover in class, plus anything else they want to explore. My students and I thank you!
