BrainPOP and Flocabulary offer valuable tools for students struggling with learning disruptions from Covid-19. BrainPOP's engaging animated lessons provide visual and auditory learning, aiding comprehension. Flocabulary's educational hip-hop songs make concepts memorable and enjoyable, supporting retention. Both platforms offer flexible, self-paced learning, catering to diverse learning styles. These resources bridge gaps caused by the pandemic, fostering engagement and understanding in an uncertain educational landscape. I will use these programs for whole group, small group, and individual instruction.
For example, I can show BrainPop's "Water Cycle" video, discuss key points, then use the online quiz for comprehension assessment.
In Social Studies, I could present a video about a historical figure, lead a class discussion, and assign a short essay on what they learned.
I would Introduce multiplication with a Flocabulary math rap, followed by interactive multiplication exercises.
I could play a story elements using "Five Elements of a Story" video, then have students create their own stories or use Flocabulary's problem-solving videos for math word problems and encourage students to solve similar problems independently.
Students will have lifelong memories of lessons learned through videos and music.
