This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning to read isn't something that comes naturally. It's a skill that requires effort and practice, especially for English language learners in a Sheltered English Immersion classroom like mine. English is a complex language with many rules for reading and spelling, but with systematic phonics instruction, our students can definitely succeed. Unfortunately, many children struggle with reading because they start with the wrong books.

In my classroom, students learn the rules of reading in order to decode, learning the skills of true reading.

Decodable books make a world of difference. These books are designed to match what our students are learning in class about sounds and letters. They help students apply their new skills to read independently and confidently.

I'm seeking a collection of engaging fiction and nonfiction books for small group reading sessions. With these books, my students can practice and strengthen their reading skills while exploring interesting topics that inspire their learning. Thank you for considering supporting our classroom and helping us achieve our reading goals!
