Brain Fuel Students Need to Succeed

My Project

Most of the items requested in this project are food items. I have chosen to do this because of the theory that we have come to know and adopt as Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (1954). The Hierarchy of Needs explains that certain needs of students must be met before students can effectively learn. The most basic level of pyramid is physiological needs such as shelter, clothing and food.

Students must be fed in order to focus on learning, which comes at a higher point of Maslow's pyramid.

In order to get to that higher point in the pyramid, the foundation needs to be met. When students come to my classroom, I believe the deserve the best opportunity I can provide in order for them to succeed. My students are very important and I am striving to make sure I fulfill as many of their needs as I can.

In my project I have also included whiteboards and markers. These materials are essential to me and my classroom because I believe students need the opportunity to be able to answer questions in a variety of ways, one of which would be on their dry erase board. I also think these materials will benefit the students because it will also give them the chance to express their creativity with their classmates and communicate with others.
