This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Research shows that students learn better in a comfortable non-traditional setting. Children cannot spend much time sitting in uncomfortable plastic chairs. With our classroom makeover, they will find a space in the classroom that helps them learn using their own physical comforts.
My students are high energy English language learners, eager to experience the world and meet the expectations of common core.
Being a school district with approximately 75% of student receiving free or reduced lunch, our students do not have many opportunities. The staff is amazing and always looking for ways to better their environment. However, the resources are limited. The ability to provide a comfortable environment at school will offer my students what they are lacking outside of school.
My Project
We are trying to redesign our classroom to create a comfortable working environment where they can find it easy to work in many different ways and broaden their learning environment. The different seating types will provide several work spaces all around the classroom defending their mood. Once the classroom is transformed, students will feel at home in the classroom. My student will be spread out throughout the classroom working at their own pace and comfort level.
My students are lacking comfort outside of school.
This will change their ability to safe, important and successful in the classroom. My students will learn more when they are happy and cozy. These students deserve the chance to succeed not only educationally, but emotionally. That is what this project will do for them.
