Brain Food - Fueling Our Learning

Help me give my students the snacks they need - Smartfood, Nutrigrain bars and cheddar bunny crackers - to keep them focused and ready to learn!

My Students

My 2nd-5th grade students are all deaf or hard-of-hearing, but that's where the similarities end!

My students come from many different countries, cultures, and backgrounds.

Some have been at our school since they were three, others have just arrived with interrupted education or little-to-no access to language in their home country. Most are considered English Language Learners. Many have disabilities such visual impairments, developmental delays, or emotional/behavioral challenges. Some students sign, some talk, some use AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), some do a little of everything. They are resilient, funny, and hardworking students. I am proud to work with them every day!

My Project

The snacks requested will provide access to grab-and-go items that can help keep students' minds in the classroom and on their learning. A missed breakfast isn't the best way to start the day, but it is a reality for many.

I never want a student to become distracted or disinterested due to hunger or fatigue.

Having access to a quick snack at any time of the day can alter the course of learning and have a huge impact on academic success and performance. Having the energy to get through the day requires fuel for their brains - and this basic human right should never go unfulfilled.
