Brain Bucks! a Math Classroom Economy

Help me give my students the gift of financial literacy through the creation of a classroom economy complete with bank books, brain bucks and rewards to shop for.

My Project

Financial literacy is very important! With the creation of a classroom economy, students will read books, complete activities, log their earnings, learn to budget and spend their earnings in the classroom store.

My goal is to foster an environment where students will know the pride of earning a paycheck, saving for a goal and the satisfaction of sticking to a budget.

Not only will the classroom economy be a wonderful positive reinforcement, it will also give my students hands-on financial knowledge that will last a lifetime. We will create the classroom economy by using folders to set a budget and create balance rosters, use the cart stock to create "brain bucks" and the small treasure box items will be the "store" where students can shop at the end of the month.
