This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every year I teach AP Psych, my students struggle with learning about the neurological/biological bases of behavior. Part of that is memorizing functions and locations of different parts of the brain. We already do brain hats, where students can label a paper diagram that they can then wear like a hat and take home, but I believe the 3D model will be of special benefit to tactile learners and visual learners a like.
After studying the brain so furiously, my students brains need a break!
The pillows will enhance and revamp an existing “cozy corner” in my classroom which serves as a place for overwhelmed students to give themselves a well deserved rest. My students are the heart of Los Angeles, and many of them suffered a lot of uncertainty, fear, and emotional overwhelm this school year. Please help me provide a safe space for them to enrich themselves and study to be the next great neuroscientists, psychiatrists, nurses, teachers, and empathetic intelligent human beings that this world needs so sorely right now.
