My students need Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, and Essential Value set for the building center. They also need Biscuit listening center stories, and rechargeable batteries to keep the center working.
I teach 22 enthusiastic Kindergarten students. It is the first classroom experience for many of my students. They are at an age where art, movement, and dramatic play are the most meaningful and exciting times of the day. So many concepts can be reinforced during these times. My students come from many different cultural backgrounds. Some of my students come from low-income families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, some have special needs and have an Individualized Education Plan, and others are second language learners. This diverse group of learners use art as a tool to express learning through fine motor development, personal development, and imagination.
My Project
Kindergarten students are movers and shakers. They need brain break activities throughout the day to help keep them focused during academic learning time. We look forward to center time every day. During center time, students work together on a common task that is fun but also promotes cooperative learning.
By donating to our project, the new center materials will give students an opportunity to take a break and will ultimately improve student focus during academic learning time.
The materials requested will provide endless opportunities to "take a break" while continuing to learn through play. Play is an essential part of the kindergarten classroom. While playing at centers, students learn to problem solve and cooperate in a group setting.
The Tinker Toys and Lincoln Logs will keep my future engineers busy at the building center while the Biscuit stories will provide endless opportunities to listen to stories at the listening center. The rechargeable batteries will make it so that the listening center is available at all times.
