My Students
My first grade students are enthusiastic and excited about learning. I have 23 eager and smiling faces that come through my door each day. My room is full of love, laughter and learning! Each child is an individual with unique needs and gifts.
When we come together each day to learn and grow, I am reminded that our future leaders are among the children in my room.
First grade is not only an important year for academics but also for social and emotional learning as well.
My Project
Brain Bins are for students to use their hands and minds to create, construct and imagine. I am requesting items such as Magformers, Bristle Blocks, and Dado Squares in order to provide a multi-sensory creative experience.
Students need time and resources for unstructured and imaginative play.
They need opportunities to develop social skills and problem solving.
Students today are frequently assessed and the expectations are rigorous. Having Brain Bins to explore when they complete academic tasks will allow for their brains to grow in other ways. Their future employers will be looking for people that can think outside of the box, be creative and be able to solve problems in new ways. I am giving them an early start by providing time and resources to actively explore!
