My Students
My school is a place that is focused on building a community that is respectful, responsible, and safe for all who come through our doors. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, including many English Language Learners and new immigrant families. As a school we believe that it is necessary to celebrate learning across cultures and ensure that our students are inquisitive, engaged learners and contributing citizens.
My students inquire and question the world around them.
They do not believe in failure but rather that we all grow from our mistakes. My students believe that anything is possible as long as they try their best.
My Project
The transition from home to school each morning can be quite challenging for many students. As teachers we are not always in control or knowledgeable of the experiences students are having at home. Therefore, it is important to start each school day on a happy note.
Morning is an excellent time for students to connect with teachers and peers while easing into a day of learning.
When I think of morning work I think of traditional paper and pencil worksheets. When I was in first grade we copied the morning message into our morning journals each morning leaving no room for creativity or independent thinking. As a teacher I not only want my students to feel safe, happy and free to take risks but I also want them to develop a love for thinking and learning.
These materials for morning bins will allow students to start the morning with time to explore, build, think and play! So much of our time is spent learning new things that students do not have time to work cooperatively and play. I want to provide time to meet the needs of all students academic, social and emotional and these materials will help achieve this.
