My students need 50 copies of the book, Ghost Buddy: Zero to Hero and 50 copies of the book, Secret Saturdays to read during the summer. These books will build reading comprehension.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There is a reading and writing achievement gap in boys versus girls. It is imperative that boys enjoy reading. If boys receive exciting and high engaging books, they will develop a fondness for reading. This gender achievement gap must be addressed. We cannot afford to lose any more boys.
These are fourth through seventh grade boys in an elementary and middle school located in upper Manhattan.
These students are interested in learning, however I want to continue to support them with reading comprehension. The boys enjoy reading when provided with high interest books.
My Project
I am requesting 50 copies of the book, Ghost Buddy: Zero to Hero and 50 copies of the book, Secret Saturdays for boys to read during the summer. These boys will enjoy reading these books. The students will strengthen their reading stamina, fluency and comprehension during the summer months and be prepared during September. The students will be able to discuss these books with their classmates and friends.
The boys will come back to school more literate and ready to achieve more.
Boys need books that will excite them about reading. Summer is about having fun while keeping the brain active. There must be highly engaging and relevant books that cater to their interests, support their reading fluency, build reading stamina and strengthen comprehension. The boys will return to school in September ready to engage and achieve in English Language Arts. Boys must read every day during summer.
