This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school that I teach at is located on the Southeast side of Chicago and is a Title I school. We have a total enrollment of 720 students in PreK-8th grades. 95% of our students are Hispanic and come from low-income households. This particular grant is for our boys basketball teams, 30 boys ages 5th-8th.

All sports including boys sports are very important here at my school.

Many students families lack the resources to fully meet all of the children's needs.

Sports tend to improve student attendance. At our school, attendance is very important and we want our students to feel good about themselves every day they come to school! We know that when they are in school they are safe and learning. When they feel good about themselves they are focused on learning and reaching their goals!

My Project

For this project I am requesting several different weighs of basketballs for our boy's basketball team. Most if not all of our sports equipment for our school sports teams is old and/or falling apart. I want my students to have the best that life can give them and that includes decent equipment for use in team sports.

Our boys teams is made up of fine young gentlemen who will really appreciate new basketballs.

This will greatly improve their performance on the basketball court. Receiving this equipment may even boost their self-esteem as new equipment is always exciting to use. Please consider helping me help our boys team have a successful season.
