This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With only 8 basketballs for a basketball program of nearly 35 players, the basic need for balls is at an all time high!
The basketball team is made up of hard working, dedicated young men.
They are student athletes whose first focus is academics. They understand basketball is a privilege, not a right. Gym time can be hard to come by for this group of inner city boys, but they take advantage of the time they have.
My Project
Donors, you can really enhance the atmosphere of this growing high school. Athletics is vital in creating a high school experience. With a competitive team, that experience is even better. The more resources we have to accomplish our team and school goals, the better!
This project would mean so much in that, more one on one attention can be given to players.
Currently we have one basketball for every 5 players. This means more players are cut at tryouts. If we can give more young men an opportunity to participate and field another team, our basketball program can help shape them into leaders and solid men.
