My Project

Bowman Elementary special education teachers are banding together to create a sensory room for our students. Bowman is home to almost 200 students who receive special education services! We host four classrooms of special education preschool (serving students age 3-5 with a wide range of needs) and four Structured Learning Classrooms (which serve primarily students with Autism).

This project will create a dedicated space for all students to go to meet their sensory and regulatory needs.

Sensory support is important for all students but particularly for students with disabilities, such as autism, where sensory regulation can be imperative. Once students have met their sensory needs and are well regulated they are better prepared to learn.
