My Students
In my history class, we look to the past to understand who we are. We study both U.S. and world history, attempting to interpret the past through student-led research. Students discover history through a variety of rigorous activities and self paced online lessons. My middle school is a Title 1 school that mainly serves minority students. We have a wide range of learners, from the exceptional children to the academically gifted. Our school was built in the 1960's and has a long tradition of hard work and community.
My Project
We all know middle school kids have a hard time sitting still. If we wish to solve the world's energy crisis, all we would need to do is bottle up 1/10th of the energy of the average 6th grader. Until this science becomes a reality, bouncy-bands will be a great way to siphon off this extra energy and help my students to focus. With these bands, my students will be more able to sit in their seats, focus on their work, and keep their enthusiasm from distracting others. These bands will be a huge benefit to the many ADD and ADHD students I serve.
