My students are in a process of transition after 2/3rds of the staff left and they also have all new administration. I have all of 7th grade this year except for one section.
This group has a high number of ELL students and Special Needs students, so we are working on a number of ways to engage them while meeting all of their education needs combined with their social-emotional needs which are numerous.
I have a high number of wiggly students, so we're trying to figure out ways for them to focus better in class.
My Project
I have a large classroom with active bodies. My students need things to keep them busy to calm their minds and focus on their learning.
Since music in their ears isn't an option, something a bit more physical would be wonderful to keep them busy without distracting each other.
I was thinking that balance discs would be an option, but something that is already attached to their desks would be ideal and it would keep students in their own personal space.
I read an article about a teacher who uses bouncy bands and her active students have been more focused without distracting others around them. I would love a chance to try these for my students.
