My students need bouncy bands for their test anxiety, learning disabilities, other anxiety problems , autism, restless leg syndrome, and for movement instead of staying sedentary for hours.
The students are eager to learn, however due to the high free and reduce lunch percentage (90%) students do not have the resources to obtain the appropriate school supplies. There is a 41% ELL population at my school.
These students thrive to learn the language and excel in school.
These students just need the appropriate tools to do so. These students are enthusiastic about learning new science and math concepts and only lack in the supplies to do so. These students thrive on organization and structure to their days. They love to know exactly what is happening next.
My Project
I purchase two bouncy bands for two students that I knew needed them to calm their ADHD tendencies. Multiple students have come up to me an have requested them for their desks also. The students I services in my classroom come from an environment that does not move. These students live in apartment buildings that do not have an area to play or even go outside. My students get their two 15 minutes recess and that is their outside time for the day. They go home and have to sit in their apartments and do not get to move around as much as they need. I think that with these bouncy bands and frequent movement breaks I could change the way my students learn and hopefully help them perform better in school.
