My Students
"It takes a village to raise a child." This quote is the inspiration for embarking on this journey to receive a class set of stability balls. Our ultimate goal if for each child to have his/her own stability ball in the classroom.
I am blessed with 18 fun, energetic first graders who work hard on a daily basis.
Every year, more and more demands are placed on our students and my students rise to the occasion. My goal as their first grade teacher is that each child reaches his/her fullest potential.
My Project
Have you ever sat in a classroom with 18 active learners? Most 6 year olds have an excess of energy. The stability balls are a release for movement in a POSITIVE WAY! The balls give the students an outlet for their energy while maintaining focus during the lessons. An increase in focus translates into more learning.
We are half way to our goal of a class set of stability balls!
This is our third project (there will be a total of 4) to help us reach that goal. While on stability balls, the children are able to sustain focus, improve motor skills and have a longer attention span during classroom lessons. I praised a student who was sitting up and listening during a lesson this week and another child shared, "That is because she is on the ball today!" THEY FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!
