This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach thirty amazing fifth graders who come from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and levels of learning. My goal is to have the students come together as one group. Through reading, exploration, and classroom discussion the students will be able to see they can come together and make a difference.

My class will be exploring, imagining, and creating all year long.

The students will work hard all year to create an unforgettable year. Each student is capable and deserving of a top level education.

My Project

Think back to when you were in school and had all that extra energy pumping through your body. You needed to move around to burn it off, but the teacher would tell you to sit down or find your seat. What do you do? Let the energy build? Or get in trouble?

With the help of Chair Bands my students can release their energy (fidgets) in a safe, controlled, and effective manner.

There are numerous reasons why students fidget during the day and instead of discouraging students needs to move around, I want to promote a safe and non distracting way for a student to be able to release their energy, so that they can focus on their learning.

While researching these bands I was reminded that a students fidgets could be due to the fact that they are stressed, whether school related or outside of school. I want to provide every opportunity for my students to have a healthy outlet to relieve stress, and I believe these bands are a fantastic solution!
