Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to play outside and play sports every day. They enjoy practicing their individual skills and helping each other be successful.
My students are in a Title I school and have limited access to sports equipment to practice and enhance their athletic skills.
The pandemic has limited their participation in sports and team building activities.
We work hard every day to provide our students with all the possible resources so our students can become more successful and become well-rounded students in both academics and extracurricular activities. My students love and want to play basketball, but having limited equipment makes practicing their athletic skills very challenging.
My Project
The goal is to bring back a form of normalcy to the students. They have been affected greatly because of the pandemic and everything they loved doing has been halted. The basketballs will support each individual students' needs by enhancing both fine and gross motor skills. As a result, their multi-tasking skills will be promoted through the usage of basketball as well as disk cones to implement hands-on experiences. By creating this basketball club it will promote their self-confidence.
In addition to promoting a sense of community, we will develop a solid foundation that will focus on leadership skills.
These skills are crucial in young children throughout our neighborhood.
