Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In this classroom we artist, scientist, authors, mathematicians. We are a community of nine with a diverse range of abilities, interests, and goals. While some of my kiddos are learning to read, write, and count, others are working on automaticity. My students share their interest in new books in their favorite series from Pete the Cat to Elephant and Piggie. One thing I can always count on is that they to come to school everyday ready for a new adventure.
My Project
Flexible seating gives students the freedom to choose where they want to work. During individual work periods, students choose where they want to work in the classroom. My students can currently work in a variety of places in our room, including at various tables, on the carpet with clipboards, or at their desk. In order to motivate students, it is vital to ensure that they are comfortable. I've noticed a difference in my students' behavior when they have a choice in where they sit. They are more engaged and get more work done while they are not at their desk. When working in small groups students will make choices of the seating to best fit their needs.
