My Students

My students are bright, energetic and creative! They are eager to learn new things and think outside the box. They are fearless & active! In order for these students to feel comfortable and maintain a passion for learning, it is my goal to provide the students the opportunity to take charge of their own learning and empower them by the opportunity to have choices. Our district is located in a rural area, and oftentimes opportunities are limited due to lack of funding available. It is my belief that every child should have the same opportunity to succeed- with the same resources as other students!

My Project

In my classroom, students will use the bounce seats on a continual basis. Bounce seats will help them to focus giving them the movement they need without distracting others. The seats provide sensory input and allow students to burn excess energy resulting in high engagement. The bounce balls will also be beneficial for my students with special needs. Movement can be calming and organizing to the brain.

The donations for this project will improve my classroom by providing flexible seating which allows for increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, thus improving core strength and overall posture.

I believe that the classroom environment should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. This simply cannot be done when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day. Physical activity is also linked to higher academic performance and improved behavior.

Classrooms today should not look like they did 50 years ago. Outside the windows of our classroom is a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing world full of choices. Seating should be a choice, too!
