Help me give my students A physics lesson they will never forget. We use soap for formation, glycerin for elasticity, gloves to prevent popping, and static electricity to repel them, controlling surface tension, evaporation, and external forces for fun
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The specific items I’m requesting—such as glycerin, gloves, and static-charged materials—will greatly enhance hands-on learning by making physics concepts more engaging and accessible. These materials will allow students to experiment with surface tension, elasticity, air pressure, and static electricity in a way that brings science to life. Instead of simply reading about these principles in a textbook, students will be able to observe, test, and manipulate real-world variables, deepening their understanding through direct experience.
Hands-on learning is one of the most effective ways to increase concept retention, especially in science.
When students actively engage with materials and conduct experiments, they develop a stronger grasp of challenging topics. Bouncing bubbles provide a perfect opportunity to explore complex physics ideas in a fun, interactive way. By physically seeing how glycerin strengthens bubbles, how gloves prevent popping, and how static electricity can make bubbles float, students will gain a clearer understanding of these forces. This approach makes learning more memorable and enjoyable, reducing frustration and increasing confidence in science.
Students will make a specific solution that increases elasticity and slows evaporation, making bubbles last longer. The gloves will prevent bubbles from popping by avoiding direct contact with dry, oily skin.
My goal for this project is to create an immersive learning experience that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. I want my students to feel excited about science and to develop a lifelong appreciation for discovery. What makes my students special is their eagerness to learn through hands-on exploration. They thrive when given opportunities to test ideas, ask questions, and find creative solutions. This project will empower them to engage deeply with physics while having fun in the process!
