Bounce Into Learning

My students need 25 stay and play ball chairs to get the wiggles out and to have fun while they focus on learning.

My Students

First grade is a big year for kids, they are learning lots of new and exciting things and the world is expanding before their eyes. Sometimes it's so exciting it's hard to keep still and focus on the experience of learning.

I have a class of 21 first grade kiddos that come from all different experiences of life.

We ensure our students have a safe place to come to each day where they can learn and socialize with other kids and adults. Our school offers free breakfast to all students to make sure they are ready to greet the day with their very best, and they are fueled and ready to go. We have an amazing support system in place for our families and we offer many opportunities for them to come on campus and participate in their students learning.

My Project

In a first grade classroom we spend time learning in a variety of ways. We spend time in centers, we spend time on the carpet as a class, and we spend some time at our desks learning in table groups. Sitting still is quite difficult and so we get up and move around a lot, taking brain breaks and moving to new areas of the classroom. The stay and play chairs in the classroom give the kids a chance to move and wiggle their bodies in the times when we are at our desks. Taking tests becomes easier because we have the chance to move and bounce as we concentrate on doing our best. I will also use the chairs as a tool to teach students how to care for the classroom materials and how to respect and honor the special privilege of sitting in the bouncy chairs.

These chairs will give the kids an opportunity to get the wiggles out and still keep focused on learning, not to mention the benefit of building strength and having fun!
