My Students

Bottomless books implies that we have plenty of books that we can read. We don't! My students need nonfiction books at their reading level.

Our classroom has students that speak 8 different languages.

About a third of the students are refugees. I have 13 students that English is their second language. They are amazing and excited about learning. We want to read about real things in nonfiction texts.

My Project

My students need nine nonfiction book sets to read at their reading level. I would love to have plenty of leveled nonfiction texts that everyone can read. We are studying about insects right now and everyone has questions. It would be great to have resources to send each student to that they can read on their own. Even first graders can do research.

First graders are just beginning to find that they can read to learn.

I want to see them excited about reading and learning. The ability to learn about something because we can read is the road to college and the future.
