My Students
These caterpillars were born to be butterflies! What better way to incorporate science in the everyday study of my students by incorporating high-interest literature and fun art supplies?
My students attend a suburban public school North Carolina with a 35% free and reduced lunch rate.
They have limited science experiences, and I'm looking for ways to meaningfully bring authentic literature and fun art experiences to our study of life cycles.
My Project
My students need engaging information texts and art supplies to supplement our study of life cycles in 2nd grade. Picture a variety of individual titles with high-interest topics, appropriate for students to read independently. Now add a series of 6-packs of expository text, appropriate for small-group, guided reading instruction. Here's the best part: each of these high-interest books directly supports national science curriculum standards in the study of life cycles!
This project allows my students to become engaged with science through high-interest reading materials and fun art supplies, encouraging authentic learning for these budding scientists!
