My Project

My students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives to our classroom. As a classroom, we embrace inclusivity and celebrate the unique strengths and talents each student brings. Their resilience, curiosity, and eagerness to learn inspire me every day.

I am seeking funding for a class set of Trevor Noah's memoir, Born A Crime.

This powerful book offers a poignant and humorous look at the complexities of race, identity, and resilience. I believe it will resonate deeply with my students and provide them with valuable insights and lessons.

The memoir will help students understand and appreciate different cultural backgrounds and experiences, fostering empathy and global awareness. Analyzing Trevor Noah's writing style and narrative techniques will enhance students' reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. The themes of overcoming adversity and finding one's identity will encourage students to reflect on their own lives and experiences, promoting personal growth and self-awareness.

My goals for this project are to engage students by capturing their interest with a relatable and compelling story, to encourage deep analysis and discussion of complex themes, to celebrate diversity and foster a sense of belonging in the classroom, and to show students the power of perseverance and determination.

My students are extraordinary because of their diversity and the unique perspectives they bring to our classroom. They are kind, empathetic, and eager to learn from one another. Their ability to support and uplift each other creates a positive and inclusive learning environment that I am incredibly proud of.

I am confident that providing my students with a class set of Born A Crime will enrich their educational experience and help them grow both academically and personally. Thank you for supporting our journey toward a more inclusive and engaging learning environment.
