Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are full of energy and curiosity! They are five and six-year-olds who come to school excited to learn. I try to make learning fun and engaging as they learn through play. For some of my students, kindergarten is their first school experience which means that they come with different skills and abilities.
I believe that every child can learn at their own developmental pace.
My goal as their teacher is to provide engaging and challenging learning experiences in a positive and safe environment.
My Project
I'm requesting feelings and emotions mats to help my students develop skills in social-emotional understanding, identifying and describing emotions, and fine motor control. They will use stretchy, pliable, and super-soft dough to make faces with different expressions.
Help my students boost their social-emotional learning as they shape with dough!
They will choose a mat featuring a scene that corresponds to an emotion, then use dough to mold a mouth, a nose and more. My students will create facial expressions for each feeling. We will read the book "Duck Goose Goose Needs a Hug", this story is about friendship and affection and how a simple hug can help gloomy Goose cheer up. The book includes expressive illustrations that will teach them the value of caring for friends.
